Many times church happens best at some place other than the church building. In fact, that’s sort of how it’s supposed to be. Being a disciple means living one’s faith in our homes and at our jobs and in our schools much more than in the church building.
Plus, sometimes its just more convenient and comfortable to go to someone’s house close by than to go to the church.
Its in response to such truths, that we offer Community Groups. Community Groups are Bible Study groups and topical study groups for adults that meet in the homes of church members throughout the city. They are largely autonomous, selecting their own teachers and units of study. They tend to meet on weeknights other than Wednesday, since we have programming at the church that evening.
Community groups are a great way to get to know folks who live around you and “get your feet wet” if you are new to First Baptist.
We currently have community groups in Harbortown, Midtown, East Memphis, and Germantown, and are eager to start more as members and seekers alike show interest.
If you are interested in attending an existing Community Group or in helping to start a new one, please contact our church office. A staff member or our Community Group coordinator will be in touch as soon as possible.
