What do you love most about First Baptist Memphis?
It’s always been her loving, nurturing people since I was a little girl.

What hobbies do you enjoy?
Traveling: say the word, “go” and I’m in the train, plane or automobile.  Just crossing the Mississippi River Bridge thrills me; collecting nativities, Elvis memorabilia.

What is your favorite novel?
Several have impacted my way of thinking and perspective on life: "The Scarlet Letter," Nathaniel Hawthorne; "The Good Earth," Pearl Buck; "The Jungle," Upton Sinclair; "The Grapes of Wrath," John Steinbeck

What is your favorite restaurant in Memphis?
Paulettes with Greer; Houston’s (hands down) with friends and family

The Fine Print
Carol serves as Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church, Memphis. She received a B.A. degree from Baylor University, a M.S. degree from Vanderbilt University and a Masters of Divinity degree from Beeson Divinity School where she helped found the Women’s Theological Fellowship. In 2001 she was selected by the faculty as the Distinguished Student in recognition of outstanding and holstic achievement in scholarship, Christian spirituality and ministry involvement. She received her Doctor of Ministry degree from Memphis Theological Seminary where her special focus on healing prayer and its renewal in the twenty-first century church and continues to be very involved in the holistic healing and health ministry of her church.

Carol was in the cradle roll department of the church she presently serves. She is an active member of the Memphis Ministers Association and currently serves on the boards of the Baptist Center of Ethics, The Woman’s Missionary Union Foundation, the Samaritan Counseling Center of the Mid-south. Carol presently serves as secretary of the Memphis Ministers, Association

Carol is the wife of Greer Richardson, an orthopedic surgeon, mother of three young adult children, all in the healthcare proefession, and a grandmother. She is intensely interested in spiritual formation, visits a Benedictine monastery as often as she is able, is an avid reader of Christian mystics and suffers, with her husband, through every baseball season with the Chicago Cubs.
