Church Movie Night Celebrates 60th Annv. of "Singin' in the Rain" May 18, 6 p.m.
Our Music Ministry invites you to enjoy a fun evening with our church family. We’ll celebrate this year’s 60th anniversary of a movie that is regarded by film critics as the best movie musical of all time, "Singin’ in the Rain." The movie will be shown on the big screen in the Family Life Center, preceded by a trivia contest about the famous film. A nursery for preschoolers will be available by reservation, and there will be supervised recreation available for elementary children in the gym. It’s all free! We’ll provide the popcorn, and ask you to bring a bottle of your favorite soft drink, tea, or lemonade to share.
Deacons Lunch & Meeting May 20
The Deacons will have a lunch and meeting following morning worship in FH on May 20.
"Oldies but Goodies" River City Concert Band Returns, May 20, 6:30 p.m.
Our Sanctuary will echo with the sounds of music as The River City Concert Band returns on Sunday, May 20. They are calling the concert “Oldies But Goldies,” and will play a number of favorites from band concerts around the USA, including “Romeo and Juliet” by Tchaikovsky and “Light Cavalry Overture” by Von Suppe. In addition the band will be accompanying a trumpet solo, and a tuba solo by Herbert L. Clark, bringing back the days of the famous John Philip Sousa Band.
There will be a saxophone solo written by Jimmy Dorsey. And if you thought you knew the famous “Bugler’s Holiday” by Leroy Anderson, you haven’t heard anything until you hear the band accompanying a tuba trio playing the fast moving song. Lots more is in store. Tickets will be on sale at the church or at the door.

Vacation Bible Study-for Adults
Get ready for Adult V.B.S. June 4-7 from 9-11:30 a.m. One part of this program will offer classes taught by Ben Bledsoe on “Secrets of Effective Bible Study.” No longer will parents and grandparents feel left out of all the fun. Come and bring your children and stay for some guidance on how to study your Bible more effectively. Bring your favorite Study Bible, a pencil and a spiral-bound notebook. A second component to our time of bible study together will be a daily ministry event.
Monday, June 4, we will visit MIHN, the day sight for HOMELESS FAMILIES at our church. You will be most impressed by the expansion of this valued ministry in our community.
Tuesday, June 5, we will learn about a new ministry housed in our church facility, partnering with Christ Community in a Bhutanese/Nepalese ministry for refugee women.
Wednesday, June 6, we will visit Caritas Village as we learn about this valuable neighborhood outreach ministry and share lunch with Onie Johns.
Thursday, June 7, we will conclude our time together with a trip down stairs to CrossLink Memphis which will become an independent Christian non-profit as of June 1st. Jan Lewis will be our gracious host and may have a hands-on project for our group as we combine bible study with mission action!
