Baptist Women

The Baptist Women of First Baptist Church has 70 members. They meet once a month with the focus on local mission projects and prayer. The program for the year includes Missions Week at Thanksgiving involving the entire church. During the week there are missionary speakers and a mission banquet on Sunday night. An offering is taken during the week and is allocated by the Missions/Ministry Team. There are also smaller programs the first Tuesday of each month. In September Baptist Women have their annual Prayer Retreat.

Susan Hooks Meadors, Minister of Family Life at Northside Baptist Church for sixteen years, is the second-longest tenured staff member in Northside history behind the custodian. She shepherds the children's ministry and the educational ministry of the church, as well as helping the church in all its celebrations and gatherings of common family life. She enjoys being involved in all aspects of worship and service, working with artists and liturgists during the different seasons of the year, leading a yearly woman's retreat as well as preaching and sharing communion with homebound members. Susan enjoys being a part of the church's prayer ministry where she is student to many of the church's wise women.

Susan is married to John Thomas Meadors, professor of Christian studies and Philosophy at Mississippi College. John and his family were members of FBC Memphis and John and his brother Bill were baptized by R. Paul Caudill on an Easter Sunday morning in 1967. Susan and John have three children: Samuel, a sophomore at Mississippi College; Joseph and Mary Louise, a junior and sophomore respectively at Clinton High School. Susan is a 1988 Master of Divinity graduate of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and a 1981 graduate of Baylor university. She served two years as a journeyman missionary in Nagasaki, Japan and was ordained by Northside Baptist Church in December, 2000.
