What to Expect on Sunday

Like most churches Sundays are central in the life of our congregation, and we certainly hope that you will come and experience a Sunday at First Baptist.

When you arrive at our Poplar and Parkway location (directions), we encourage you to park in the rear of the church, in the lot that enters off of Crestmere.  There you will find specially marked parking places for you, our guest.

We encourage you to enter through our main entrance which is marked by three large doors underneath a larger porte cache.  Inside you will find our welcome center where greeters will be happy to assist you in finding a Bible Study class or the Sanctuary for worship.

Bible Study begins at 9:30.  There are Bible Study classes for all ages including children, youth, and adults.  (click here for more on Bible Study classes)  If by chance you cannot join us for Bible Study, Radio Bible Class, now in its 82nd year, it can be heard on WESPN, 680 AM and ESPN 92.9 FM at 10:30 am.

Worship begins at 11:00.  Our worship style is best characterized as traditional, though we make use of both liturgical and contemporary elements.  We follow the Christian calendar year, marking the seasons of Advent, the season after Epiphany, Lent, Eastertide, and Pentecost.  We observe communion quarterly and all who seek God in the person of Jesus Christ are welcome to participate.  Childcare is provided for children under the age of 3.  Children ages 3 through 2nd Grade, begin worship in the sanctuary, but then leave for their own worship experience in the children’s area. Our worship services are broadcast over WESPN, 680 AM and ESPN 92.9 FM, WPTY Channel 24, television.
