What to Expect the Rest of the Week

During the rest of the week there is more going on than can be mentioned. Our Cell Groups, small in-home adult study groups, meet on a variety of weekday evenings, in homes of church members throughout the mid-south area. Our First Baptist Day School is in session every weekday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. Church committees also choose to meet on a variety of weeknights. We have space over our gym which is utilized during the week by Memphis Interfaith Hospitality Network as a day site for families looking for housing.

This summer, First is proud to host two weekday ministries. The Rev. Rudy Howard works with inner city youth in a program called Luke 4:18 Career Development which seeks to give training or resumes, interviews obtaining jobs, etc. First is also hosting a Phonics Camp for children. This is a ministry of the Neighborhood Christian Center. Its purpose is to help children struggling to read to improve over the summer and be better prepared to enter school in the Fall.

Other Activities during the week:

  • On Monday and Tuesday evenings, you may find special classes being offered at our church, like Dave Ramsey Financial Seminars or classes on Celtic Spirituality.
  • On Thursdays and Fridays our senior adults are often times present for a Game Day on first, third and fifth Thursdays from 10:30 am until 2:30 pm and Triple L (Living Longer and Loving It), a Bible Study Group, at 11 am on Fridays. Both are followed by lunch.
  • Our church office is open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
